About Our Organization

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Greater Los Angeles was founded on the notion of "one child, one wish" in 1983. Since that time, we have brightened the lives of more than 7,500 children with a wide range of life-threatening medical conditions.

While medical technology and treatments have allowed the children we serve to lead longer lives, we continue to strive towards our ultimate mission of fulfilling a wish for every child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in Los Angeles County.

Our Mission

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Eligibility

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles will fulfill a wish for any child who is over the age of 2 1/2 years and under 18 (at the time of referral) in Los Angeles County with a progressive, degenerative, or malignant life-threatening medical condition that has placed the child's life in jeopardy. After a child is referred to the foundation, the child's physician confirms that he or she is medically eligible to receive a wish and the wish granting process proceeds from there.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of America
