Alajiah, Age 8

I just wanted to say thank you once again. My family and I really enjoyed our trip to Florida. It was the best vacation ever. The Give Kids the World staff and volunteers really made us feel at home. My children and I loved all of the activities that were scheduled when we returned from the theme parks. Alajiah’s favorite part of her wish was meeting the beautiful Princess Tiana from “The Princess and the Frog.” Alajiah was able to sing and dance with the Princess. She was also able to dance with Mickey and Minnie Mouse and get their autograph when we stopped by Mickey’s Toontown. My children got VIP treatment when we were at the theme parks. With all that they have gone through while dealing with Alajiah’s illness, I got emotional when I saw the smiles on their faces. The itinerary took into account our difference in age and genders, so not only did Alajiah’s enjoy herself, my 12-year-old son had a blast as well (he thought he was going to be stuck on kiddie rides). This vacation was life-changing, because no matter what it is that you are going through, you need to live life today as if it’s your last day on earth. Smile and be polite to others. You never know what they are going though and you will never know how your smile can help make their circumstances that much better.
